SRINAGAR, Dec 29: Players have been selected for both Nationals ShowShoe and 3rd edition of Khelo India Winter Games-2022 during the selection trials, conducted at Gulmarg, here today.
In men’s category, Gulbadin Hekmatyar stood first, while Muzamil Hussain and Adil Fayaz remained 2nd and 3rd respectively, besides in girl’s category, Muskan Shaban and Afshana Zehra succeeded to win 1st and 2nd places respectively on the basis of their best timing and seven players were kept in waiting list in men category.
The trials were conducted by J&K SnowShoe Association in both male and female categories wherein a large number of long distance runners were turned up for the trials in the men section, while there was low turnout in the female category.
The trials were held in order to select J&K athletes for the upcoming 5th SnowShoe National Championship and 3rd Khelo India National Winter Games 2022, which was inaugurated by president of the Association, Tariq Ahmad Zargar in presence of general secretary Gulzar Khan, executive member Shabir Ahmad and international cyclist Akber Khan.
The trials were conducted under overall supervision of NIS qualified athletic coach Tahir Ahmed.
Later, the Association honored Assistant Director Tourism Gulmarg, Dr Javid-Ur-Rehman for offering support to conduct trials.
