Pegasus FC wins opening Football tie

JAMMU, Nov 25: Pegasus Football Club made it a 2-0 win against fighting Nagrota Football Club in the opening match of the Jammu Gold Cup (Under-19) Football Tournament, organized by Young Heros Football Club at GGM Science College grounds, here today.
Digvijay Singh Rajput (19th) and Varmanesh (63rd) were the scorers from the winning Pegasus Club. Since 14 teams are taking part in this, Pegasus today qualified for the next round of quarterfinals.
As per the fixtures, two teams of J&K Bank Academy and Param Football Club have already been placed in the quarterfinals. The inaugural match was officiated by the technical penal including Rocky Sharma (centre), Dilbahadur, Satnam Singh (assistant) and Dheeraj Meenia (fourth referee).
The event was declared open by Superintendent of Police (SP) North, Kulbeer Handa amidst interaction with the teams and officials as also the members of the organizing committee. He appreciated the Young Heros FC for engaging young footballers with the sole aim to develop competition spirit among them.
Earlier, chairman of the organizing committee, Ashok Sharma briefed the gathering about the week-long event and its importance in the presence of organizing secretary, Rajesh Sumberia and assistant secretary, Kamaljeet. Among those prominent present were Kuldeep Singh, Shiv Paul Sharma, Ramesh Chander, Ravi Sharma (chairman Young Heros Club), Pawan Kumar Manni (member core committee Young Hero), Kuldeep Gupta (treasurer), Deepak Sangral and Ajay Kumar (Kaka).
