Pardeep, Vimarsh, Atul, Dhruv take Chenab Gas Royals, Simula Superstars into semis of PPCPL

JAMMU, Apr 28: A splendid 5-wicket haul by old horse Pardeep Bali and brilliant unbeaten knock of 47 runs by skipper Vimarsh Kaw helped formidable side of Chenab Gas Royals to drub strong team of Chenab Tigers to make it to semifinals, while magnificent half century by promising opener Atul Sharma and 4-wicket haul by experienced campaigner Dhruv Mahajan guided cohesive unit of Simula Superstars to emphatic victory over Banihal Knight Riders in the quarterfinals to make it to the last four stage of the ongoing Police Public Cricket Premier League, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Jagjit Kumar, IGP Security J&K was the chief guest during the prize distribution ceremony, who presented the cash prizes and the trophies to the winning team and outstanding players on the ocasion.
He was accompanied by Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu, General Secretary of PPCPL and other dignitaries on the occasion.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal, Chenab Tigers winning the toss and batting first, scored a modest total of 79 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Manik Sharma top scored with 24 runs, while Adil Reshi contributed 13 runs to the total. Pardeep Bali of Chenab Gas Royals was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Vishwajeet and Bandeep Singh took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Chenab Gas Royals scored 84 runs in just 12 overs, thus entered the semifinals. Vimarsh Kaw was the top scorer with unbeaten 47 runs. Raman Dutta and Abid Mushtaq of Chenab Gas Royals took one wicket each. Pardeep Bali was declared as man of the match, while the best catch award was shared by Sahil Bhalwal and young Nipun Verma, who took a blinder at long-on and the award for maximum sixes went to Vishwajeet Singh.
In the 2nd quarterfinal match, Banihal Knight Riders win the toss and decided to bat first and scored a low total of 90 runs. Omar Alam was the top scorer with 26 runs, while Umer Nisar contributed 18 runs to the total. Dhruv Mahajan of Simula Superstars took 4 important wickets, while Hardeep, Dilbagh Singh, Sameer Khajuria, Hilal Rather and Kuldeep Kumar took one each.
In reply, Simula Superstars chased the target in just 12.1 overs with Atul top scoring with 51 runs and Dhruv contributing valuable 18 runs to the wining total. Atul Sharma of Simula Superstars was declared as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Amit Gupta and JD Singh as umpires, while Suhail Yousuf, Vinod Kumar, Sanddep Manchanda and Nitu Khokhar acted as scorers. The proceedings of post the match presentation was conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
