NSS Foundation Day celebrated with enthusiasm, fervour

JAMMU, Sept 24: Educational institutions celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day with enthusiasm and fervour across Jammu, here today.
A symposium on “Role of NSS in Present Era” was organised to celebrate the Day by Govt PG College Rajouri under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers, Supriya Gupta and Dr Naseem Ahmed, wherein College Principal Prof Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi was the chief guest.
Prof Qazi enlightened the students with the role that NSS volunteers had played in evacuating various evils from society in the past and the responsibilities that volunteers must take to eradicate the other problems of the society like HIV/AIDS, Drugs addiction etc. and work for strengthening the communal harmony of the country.
The Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur today celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day, which commenced with the lighting of lamp by DDC Member Panchari Mongri, Jasvir Singh, Principal of College Dr SK Magotra, Ashok Khajuria, MD, Bhartiya Group of Institutions, Vice Principal Prof. Bindu Salaria and others. The College Principal also highlighted the importance of selfless service and appealed to the volunteers for engaging themselves in constructive social work and to enrich their personality.
The NSS Units of Govt Degree College Kathua celebrated 53rd NSS Day by organizing a programme in the College Auditorium. The celebrations started with the lighting of a traditional lamp by chief guest Prof. Sumanesh Singh Jasrotia, Principal of the College along with senior most faculty members. A detailed report on the activities during the session 2021-22 was presented by NSS volunteer, Sakshi Bhau, whereas Prof Rakesh Jasrotia HoD Chemistry delivered a lecture on NSS and NEP-2020 and the volunteers conducted cleanliness drive as well as nukkad natak on ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan’ was also staged.
The NSS unit of GDC Sidhra under the aegis of IQAC celebrated the Day with great zeal and enthusiasm and showcased the plethora of activities and initiatives undertaken by the Unit in the period of last one year in the form of PowerPoint Presentations and videos. The guests of honour for the event were Sarpanch of Bain Bajalta, Shameer Ahmed and Gulzar Wani, Principal Government Lower Middle School Bain Bajalta.
The Day was observed by the NSS unit of Govt Degree College Thannamandi under the patronage of College Principal, Dr Farooq Ahmed, wherein the Principal highlighted the importance of selfless service and appealed to the volunteers for engaging themselves in constructive social work and to enrich their personality. He also appraised the audience about the history of NSS and appealed to the volunteers to relate their learning and experiences towards finding solutions to the problems.
Celebrating the Day, a poster making competition was organised at Govt. Degree College Marh in collaboration with NSS unit and De-Drug Addiction Cell, wherein College Principal Prof. Rakesh Kumar Koul was the chief guest. The Principal said that the NSS motto “Not Me but You” represents the spirit of democratic living and emphasizes the need for selfless service and celebrating this day makes the students confident, develop leadership skills and gain knowledge about different people from different walks of life. Many students of the college participated in this activity and prepared handmade posters on the theme ‘Say No to Drugs’.
