JAMMU, Jan 22: A group of NIS Community coaches called on Union Minister of State for Sports, Kiren Rijiju to project their demands here today.
Aijaj Mir, president of Association of All JK NS NIS community coaches apprised the Minister of their issues and said that a group of 207 sportspersons from Jammu Kashmir were sent to NIS Patiala for eight week special certificate course under Prime Minister’s Special Package during October 2016 to April 2017 in three batches.
He said after completion of the course all certificate holders were appointed as community coaches in their respective districts under Sports Council’s Order No: 553 of 2017 dated July 24, 2017, adding that even after giving good results, J&K Sports Council discontinued us without any justification.
Union Sports Minister in the presence of Ex-MLC Vikram Randhawa, Secretary YSS Sarmad Hafeez and DG Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman assured the NIS trainers that he will make every effort to utilise their services in order to uplift the standard of sports in Union Territories.
Sarmad Hafeez also requested the Sports Minister to help the Department financially so that Sports Council can utilise the skills of certified coaches in a better way.
