JAMMU, Jan 2: Niren Dev Singh slammed a cracking ton, while Praful Dhar took a 5-wicket haul and Rohan Gill scored fifty in the drawn match of the ongoing X-Mas and New Year Under-14 Test Series, being organized jointly by Range Police Headquarters Jammu and Christian Sports Organization (CSO) at Parade ground, here.
This was the second match of the 3-match Test Series between JKP Junior XI and CSO Junior XI.
Parshotam Sharma, DDP, RPHQ was the chief guest in today’s match, who was introduced with both the teams on the occasion. He was accompanied by Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy player, Vivek Sheker DySP Headquarters, Jammu and Kuljit Singh, DySP DAR Kathua.
Earlier, after winning the toss JKP Jr. XI batting first scored a mammoth total of 319 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 49 overs. Niren Dev Singh scored splendid century with 19 boundaries and 4 sixes. He made unbeaten 108 runs, whereas opening batsman Rohan Gill also scored 56 runs with 12 boundaries, while Shivansh, Ragav Thakur and Aryaman Parihar contributed 38, 34 and 32 runs respectively. For CSO XI, Praful Dhar was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets by conceding 49 runs in his 16 overs, while Anslam took 2 wickets and Ivon claimed 1 wicket. Aryaman Parihar, skipper of JKP team declared the innings at 319/8 and invited CSO XI to bat.
In reply, Christian Sports Jr. XI were also going great guns as they scored 198 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 33 overs, when the stumps were drawn today. Ronit and Kallis scored 55 and 52 runs respectively, while Anslam scored 41 runs and Praful Dhar 15. For JKP XI, Vikram took 2 wickets, while Ayraman Parihar and Rohan Gill shared 1 wicket each.
The match was ended in draw and equal points were shared between the two teams. Niren Dev Singh was adjudged man of the match for his superb century.
The match was officiated by Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda, Bunty and Vinod Kandyara, while the tournament is being organized under the supervision of Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu and Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy player is the organizing secretary of the tournament.
The third and final match of the Series will be played at the same venue tomorrow and Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu will be the chief guest in the valedictory function.
