Mumbai outplays J&K in a thrilling contest by 3 runs

JAMMU, Feb 19: Formidable Mumbai outplayed Jammu and Kashmir in a thriller by a narrow margin of 3 runs in the ongoing Men’s Cricket Under-23 One Day Tournament at KL Saini Stadium, Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Earlier, put into bat, Mumbai scored a decent total of 241 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing all their wickets in the process. Atharva Vinod Ankolekar top scored with 63 runs off 72 balls, studded with 5 fours and one six, while Chinmay Sutar, Siddharth Akre and Suved Parkar contributed 44, 34 and 30 runs to the total respectively. From Jammu and Kashmir, Abid Mushtaq took 3 wickets by conceding 43 runs in his 10 overs, while Imtiyaz Ahmed Ganai bagged 2 wickets by giving away 31 runs in his 10 overs. Auqib Nabi, Abhishant Bakshi and Muneeb Munaf claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir managed to score 238 runs in 50 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match in a close contest by 3 runs. Nipun Verma top scored with 73 runs off 113 balls, studded with 5 boundaries, while Abhishant Bakshi, Samad, Musaif Ajaz and Muneeb Munaf contributed 39, 31, 29 and 23 runs to the total respectively. Abid Mushtaq chipped in with quick-fire 16 runs off just 6 balls, with 2 sixes and one fours.
From Mumbai, Siddharth Akre took 3 wickets, while Kuthik Hanagavadi bagged 2 wickets. Harsh M Kothari and Atharva Vinod claimed one wicket each. Medium pacer Arjun Tendulkar remained wicket-less.
With this win, Mumbai got 4 points, while J&K failed to secure any point.
