JAMMU, Sept 12: Member Parliament of Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma inaugurated the office block of Sports Club and unveiled statue of Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass on his martyrdom day at Akhnoor, here today.
On the martyrdom day of Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass, the Sports Club Akhnoor organized a tribute programme by installing Shaheed’s statue in the Sports Club premises, wherein MP Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest, whereas former MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma and DDC Member Sharda Bhau were present as guests of honour.
Paying tribute to Shaheed Thakur Dass Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore said that Thakur Ji attained the martyrdom on Ladakh border in the year 1965 and the whole India is indebted for his immortal sacrifice.
Member of Parliament while appreciating Sports Club Akhnoor said that it is our duty that we should remember the brave soldiers who sacrificed for the country and we should arrange these types of functions in their respect and statue of the Shaheed Thakur Dass Sharma will remind us about the immortal sacrifice of him.
Rajeev Sharma in his address said that in memory of the Shahee, the Sports Club Akhnoor has decided to maintain Office Complex to promote sports activity in the Akhnoor.
DK Kapoor along with Members of Sports Club Akhnoor Col Bana Ram, Capt Jugal Gupta, SK Sharma, MC Akhnoor Surinder Sharma, District president BJP Jagdish Bhagat, Capt Soba Ram, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Dalbeer Pawar, Kuldeep Singh and others were also present at the occasion.
