Mountaineering Association releases ‘Calendar of Activities’

JAMMU, Mar 25: Mountaineering Association of J&K today released the “Calendar of Activities” of the association for the year 2013-14.
The activities calendar was released by President of the association, BR Sharma, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development.
The calendar included 11 trekking expeditions, 2 mountaineering expeditions, an Adventure camp, 2 sport climbing courses, a Judges and Route Setters Course and 3 preparatory camps before participation of the State team in the Zonal and National climbing competitions.
The Association will also host the 1st Sub Junior North Zone Sport Climbing Competition at Sprawling Buds School, Jammu, besides participating in the Zonal and National Sport Climbing Competitions and conducting the State Championship and 9 district climbing competitions.
The prestigious mountaineering expedition to Matho Kangri peak in Ladakh will be organized by the Association and the other mountaineering expedition to Kolhoi peak in Pahalgam area, trekking expeditions to Sonamarg, Pahalgam and Leh areas in J&K, Chamba and Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Goumukh in Uttrakhand and an adventure camp at Moungri in Udhampur District will be conducted by affiliated clubs of the Association.
District Sport Climbing Competitions of Srinagar, Anantnag and Pulwama districts will be held at the newly constructed sport climbing wall at TRC, Nowgam (Kashmir). The other 6 district competitions of Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Samba and Kathua will be conducted by the Association at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu.
While releasing the Calendar of Activities BR Sharma hoped that State climbers would bring more laurels to the State in the forthcoming 1st Sub Junior Sport Climbing Competition to be hosted by the Association on April 27 and 28.
Among others present were Ram Khajuria, general secretary, Yogeshwar Kumar, vice president, Ram Singh and Nissar Ahmad, joint secretaries, Shamsher Singh, treasurer, MD Naqqash and Navneet Gupta, executive members.
