Model Academy organises Inter School Group Folk Song Competition

JAMMU, May 10: Model Academy, B C Road  today organized an Inter School Folk Group Song Competition in which 6 prominent schools of Jammu namely DPS Katra, Stephen’s International School, Doon International School, Jodhamal Public School, K.C International School and the host school participated.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr. Arun Gupta, chairman MIER whereas Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds, Pramod Srivastava, Principal, Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal, J.K Dhiman, Administrative Officer and Academic Managers of the school.
Principal,  Pramod Srivasta presented welcome address.
Dr. Arun Gupta while addressing the mammoth gathering said that it was a privilege for him to witness this event. He said that music provides relief to the soul and brings people closer as it is the universal language of love all over the world. He further stressed the need to cultivate love for folk music among children.
The competition was adjudged by eminent Music Composer Sham Sajan, Bala Thakur renowned Classical Singer and Manju Bala Radio Artist, Radio Kashmir, Jammu.
The teams were judged for rhythm, authenticity of songs, group co-ordination and overall presentation.
The winner of the competition was the group from Model Academy who rendered a soulful mix of Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi folk song. The second prize was bagged by Jodhamal Public School and the third prize was given to K.C International School. Consolation prize was awarded to DPS Katra. Certificates of participation were given to all the participant schools.
