UDHAMPUR, Mar 6: MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta today visited Subhash Sports Stadium, here today.
A team of Officers comprising Ex-En Sports Council, Manager Sports Council, Ex-En PWD, Ex-En PHE , Tehsildar accompanied the MLA during his visit.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stressed on providing better facilities to the young players of the district .Besides this, he said that necessary facilities would also be provided to the spectators who would come to witness different matches.
During his visit, the MLA directed the concerned officers to ensure fencing of the entire land of the stadium and also asked them to take necessary steps for the beautification of the stadium. Directions were also issued to the concerned officers for ensuring the development of different playgrounds so that different types of sports activities could be conducted at the stadium.
Detailed discussions were also held on certain other issues like widening of the stadium, removal of encroachment, construction of proper drainage to avoid water logging in the playgrounds.
Expressing his desire of organizing national level cricket matches at the stadium, the MLA said that necessary steps for developing a cricket pitch would also be taken and directed the concerned officer to ensure proper leveling of the playground.
Chief Planning Officer Udhampur, Ashok Khajuria, Executive Engineer, J&K Sports Council Manjeet Singh,Manager Satish Chopra, Ex-En PWD Mohammad Abdullah, Ex-En PHE Vinod Gupta, Tehsildar Javaid Iqbal Rather and some members of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association from Udhampur were present on the occasion.
