JAMMU, Sept 24: Mitrabaha Guha  and Neelash Shah of West Bengal, Inian P. and Jaya Kumar of Tamil Nadu, R K Jena of Odissa and Nitish Belurkar of Goa were leading at 4.5 points each after 5 rounds of 41st National Sub Junior Chess Championship, 2015 at Jalsa Retreat, here today.
In girls section, Aakanksha Hagawane of Maharashtra is leading the pack at 5 out of 5 points followed by Priyanka K of Tamilnadu at 4.5 points, while Vantika Aggarwal of Delhi, Srishti Pandey, Sakshi Chitlange and Aashna Makhija of Maharashtra, Priyanka Nutakki of Andhra, Sunyuktha and Sneha of Tamilnadu, and Samriddhaa of West Bengal are following closely at 4 points each.
Total 28 players of J&K are participating in this event. 184 players (including 77 girls) alongwith 150 coaches and managers are participating in this historic event in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The J&K State Sports Council is the main sponsor of this one of the biggest sports extravaganza ever held in the State.
“4 Players from Boys section and 1 from girls section of this event will be selected for world youth Olympiad (U-16) to represent India. They will be sent for exposure trips of Spain and Moscow by All India Chess Federation. Nitin Shenvi from Maharashtra is the Chief Arbiter of this event. He is supported by 6 deputy arbiters from Assam,Tamilnadu, Rajasthan and J&K. Top Games are displayed live on internet. Special expert in Live Internet Games Anand Babu from Chennai is managing Live games Infra.Total 11 rounds will be played under swiss league system in this event. The final will be played on September 29, 2015,” informed Mr Atul, president All J&K Chess Association.
The Association has appealed the school children and other sports lovers of Jammu to visit the venue of this event to witness the thrilling contests.
