JAMMU, May 8: Inter Zonal District Level Competitions of District Jammu, being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports for under 14 and 17 boys in the disciplines of kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball and wrestling commenced today at Government Higher Secondary School Domana and Government High School, Jammu Cantt.
In under-14 volleyball, Miran Sahib Zone will take on Marh Zone in the final tomorrow. Earlier, in the first semifinal, Miran Sahib Zone beat Khour Zone by 2-0 sets and in the second semis, Marh Zone registered win over Gandhi Nagar Zone by straight 2-0 sets.
In under-17 volleyball, Marh Zone beat Gandhi Nagar Zone by 2-0 sets,
Khour Zone defeated Chowki Choura Zone by 2-0 sets and Jourian Zone smashed Bhalwal Zone by 2-0 set.
In under-14 kabaddi, Jammu Zone beat Bhalwal Zone by 25-5 points and Bishnah Zone beat RS Pura Zone by 15-5 points, where as in under-17 boys, Satwari Zone beat Arnia Zone by 27-12 points, Jourian Zone defeated RS Pura by 38-37 points, Jammu Zone smashed Miran Sahib Zone by 40-37 points and Akhnoor Zone crushed Bishnah Zone by 29-28 points.
In under-14 kho-kho, Bhalwal Zone will lock horns with Akhnoor Zone in final tomorrow. Earlier, in first semifinal, Bhalwal Zone beat Bishnah by 8-3 points and in the second semifinal Akhnoor Zone registered win over Satwari Zone by 3-1 points.
In under-17 kho-kho, Bhalwal Zone will clash with Akhnoor Zone in the final tomorrow. Earlier, Bhalwal Zone beat Bishnah Zone by one turn and 8 points in first semis, whereas Akhnoor Zone smashed Satwari Zone by one turn and 2 points in second semifinal.
In under-17 wrestling, Mohammad Asif of GMS Sitni Bye Pass and Sunil Singh of GHSS Mandal claimed first and second positions respectively in under 42 kg category, whereas in under 46 kg category, Rafiq Ahmad of GGHS Sohanjana claimed first position, whereas Zasir Ali of GHSS Jhiri secured second position. In under 50 kg category, Parveen Kumar of GHS Sohanjana and Kulbir Singh of GHSS Muthi secured first and second positions respectively, whereas in under 54 kg category, Benazir of GHSS Marh and Aman Bhatti of St John Convent Satwari bagged first and second positions respectively.
In under 58 kg category, Sumit Singh of GHS Chatha and Sarwan Kumar of KB Public School bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas in under 63 kg category, Saddam Hussain of GHS Gharkhal Akhnoor bagged first position and Sahil Kumar of MPHS Shama Chak bagged second position. In under 76 kg category, Sagar Singh of GPS Ranjan Bhalwal and Sumit Sharma of MPHS Shama Chak bagged first and second positions respectively.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Madan Lal, Joint Director, DYSS Jammu in presence of Sukhdev Raj Sharma DYSSO Jammu and Shandra Malhotra, Principal, GHSS Domana.
