Aryan Mahajan brings laurels to J&K, became Champion for U-1600

JAMMU, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis player Aryan Mahajan made the State proud by becoming Champion for U-1600 and runner-up for U-1700 events during $3000 Newgy Ohio Open Table Tennis Tournament, being organized by Samson Dubina Table Tennis Academy at Shaw Jewish Community Center (JCC), Akron, Ohio.
In U-1600 event, Aryan Mahajan smashed Richard Beer by 3-2 sets in the finals and become Champion. Earlier, in the semifinal and quarterfinal matches, Mahajan crushed Craig Nivens and Alper Sezer respectively by straight 3-0 sets.
In U-1700 event, Mahajan played an excellent game but lost the final played against Rikuto Namiki and claimed runner-up position. Earlier, in quarterfinal match. Akash defeated Lisa Huang by 3-1 sets, whereas he smashed Joe Ciarrochi in semifinal by 3-2 sets.
Mahajan has reached quarterfinals in U-1800 and U-1400 events.
Around 86 players across the globe are participating in the tournament, which has been sanctioned by USA Table Tennis.
It is to mention that, Mahajan participated in various tournament including 2016 Millcreek Giant Table Tennis where he won Division 5L. He was runners up for U-1600 also in the Arnold Table Tennis Challenge in Columbus (OH) where there were over 300 participants.
He had also proved his mettle by winning the U-1400 Tiered title. Moreover, Aryan played in Aurora Cup in Chicago (IL), and ended up reaching quarterfinals.
He has been training extensively with Ohio’s top player and mentor Samson Dubina.
