JAMMU, Dec 11: MIET College and GDC Udhampur were among winners in Quarter Final matches of the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education in Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu here.
Earlier, in the men’s section, MIET College defeated GDC Kathua by (3-0). Sumit Mahajan beat Dalbeer Singh by (11-4, 11-9), Abhishek Arora trounced Pankaj by (11-5, 11-6) and Kanav Sharma drubbed Narinder Singh by (11-4, 12-10).
In 2nd match, GDC Udhampur got better of GGM Science College by (31). Ankit Sharma prevailed over Shakul by (11-4, 11-5), Harsh Dev Singh lost to Akshay Parihar by (6-11,8-11), Ankit Sharma beat Akshay Parihar by (11-9,11-12,11-5).
In another match, GDC Paloura and Commerce College entered semi final by getting walkover.
In women’s section, Commerce College beat GCW Parade by (3-1). Arya Parimo drubbed Dachen by (11-8, 11-1), Preeti lost to Pariva by (6-11, 3-11), Sonalika beat Jasleen by (11-1,11-4) and Arya defeated Preeti by (11-4,14-12).
In 2nd match, PG Department WC Gandhinagar and GGM Science College advanced to Semi finals by getting walkover.
Matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, R Rotra and Suresh Sharma.
The tournament is being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the overall supervision of its Director, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
