JAMMU, Dec 1: Splendid knock by Dev Thakur (47) and some inspired bowling performances from Sachin Jamwal, Rahul Khatri and Ranjeet Singh saw Media XI Cricket Club, Jammu beat JKP XI by 44 runs in a friendly T-20 match at University of Jammu Ground, here today.
Chasing 155 to win, JKP XI batters failed to consolidate after double strikes from Sachin Jamwal and Yash Khajuria reduced them to (22-4) at the end of 6 overs.
Recovering from the early blows, JKP XI showed signs of aggression when Sandy and Anil took over the Media XI quicks as the partnership garnered 38 runs in just 3 overs and looked dangerous as long as soon the spinner brought Media XI to the forefront as Rahul Khatri removed the dangerous looking Sandy (37) who slogged a flighted delivery into the hands of Yash Khajuria at the mid-wicket. The JKP XI could not keep their nerves and got bowled out on paltry 110. Anil (27 runs) and Skipper Sunil (12) were the other notable scorers for JKP XI. Sachin Jamwal and Ranjeet Singh shared three wickets each while Rahul got two wickets.
Earlier, led by Vivek Suri, Media XI won the toss and opted to bat first. Media XI suffered early blow as opener Ranjeet got dismissed on duck. Amit Kumar (20) and Sunil Bali (29) and Dev Thakur helped Media XI to set a challenging 154 runs target on scoreboard. Pardeep Bali 10 and Vivek Suri (14) were the other notable contributors to the Media Xi total. For JKP XI, Slathia took two wickets to remain the pick of the bowlers whereas Rishab, Rakesh and Prithvi shared wicket apiece. Dev Thakur (47*) and Sachin Jamwal were declared as joint Players of the match.
