JAMMU, Dec 1: The students of Govt Schools of District Udhampur showcased their talent, skills and brought laurels to the district by winning 1st prize each in a UT-Level programme of Role Play and Folk Song/Dance competitions organised under the National Adolescence Education Programme (NAEP) by the NAEP Unit of J&K Board of School Education held at GHSS (Boys), Gandhi Nagar, here.
The programme was hosted by Govt Higher Secondary School (B) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where Prof Veena Pandita, Chairperson, J&K BOSE was the chief guest on the occasion and Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics JKBOSE & State Project Director, AEP was the guest of honour.
Team of GHSS, Tikri, Udhampur bagged 1st position in “Role Play” category and Team of GHSS, Barta, Udhampur also secured 1st position in “Folk Dance” category out of a total number of 18 teams of different districts participated in the said UT level competition.
Chief Education Officer- Purshotam Dutt Sharma congratulated the winning teams and wished good luck to participate in forth coming National Level Competition.
He also congratulated Diet Principal, Udhampur- Vijay Koul, Programme, Co-ordinator DIET- Upkar Singh, other DIET faculty members and the special efforts of Cultural Cell in-charge Saguna Khajuria.
It is pertinent to mention here that the programme was initially started during the tenure of Purshotam Dutt Sharma as Principal-DIET, Kud-Udhampur in October, 2019.
The aim of the programme was focussed on diverse aspects and challenges of adolescence, gender equality, respect for elders, protection of environment, nutritious food and well being, personal safety, safe use of internet, gadgets & media literacy and substance/drug abuse & its causes and prevention etc.
