SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Officials of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today slapped a fine of Rs 13,000 on different traders after they were found to be involved in unfair market practices.
A spokesman of Legal Metrology Department said a team conducted inspections of different markets of Srinagar city and other districts. The spokesman said that about one dozen erring traders were booked for violating Packaged Commodities Rules/Weights and Measures Laws.
“During the inspection, many LPG retail-outlets were inspected to ascertain the smooth supply of LPG cylinders to consumers. The compliance of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order 2000 was checked. Two LPG dealers were booked and fined for over-charging. A fine of Rs. 13,000 was collected from the erring traders,” said the spokesman.
