JAMMU/KATHUA, May 6: Laxmi Cricket Club defeated Virat Senior Cricket Club by 4 wickets, while Gagan XI got the better of Singh Cricket Club by a huge margin of 140 runs in the ongoing JKCA’s District Level Cricket Tournament played at GGM Science College Hostel ground and Police Lines ground at Jammu and Kathua respectively.
At GGM Science College Hostel ground, Virat Senior Cricket Club scored a modest total of 121 runs in 24.1 overs. Channder Pandita top scored with 42 runs, while Lakhan Singh contributed 39 runs to the total. Jagjeet Johal also chipped in with 13 runs. From Laxmi Cricket Club, Sameer Khajuria was the wrecker-in-chief, who spun web around the rival batsmen and took 6 important wickets, while Sant Baksh bagged 2 and Govind Sharma claimed one wicket.
In reply, Laxmi Cricket Club chased the target in 25.3 overs by losing 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets. Rohan Koul top scored with 40 runs, while Nipun Verma contributed 31 runs to the total. Ateev Saini also contributed 24 runs to the total and Dhruv Mahajan remained unbeaten on 15 runs. Amit took 3 wickets from Virat Senior Cricket Club, while Vishal Rana and Varun Puri claimed 1 wicket each. Sameer Khajuria was adjudged as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Ashok Singh and Rahul Kumar.
At Kathua, Gagan XI won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Gagan XI scored a good total of 269 runs in 39.3 overs, Shivam Sharma and Munish scored magnificent half-centuries, scoring 57 and 54 runs respectively. From Singh Cricket Club, Gurshant took 4 wickets, while Kulbeer claimed one.
In reply, Singh Cricket Club scored 129 runs in 26.5 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 140 runs. Pinku top scored with unbeaten 43 runs, while Deepak contributed 29 runs to the total. From Gagan XI, Gagan and Munish captured 3 wickets each.
