JAMMU, Aug 26: Interschool Junior Calligraphy competition was held at Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi under the aegis of Youth Talent Search Forum, here today.
Students from 9 different reputed schools of Jammu participated in this Junior Level competition. The competition started after paying tributes to the Founder Member of Youth Talent Search Forum, Shakuntla Joshi who was also founder Principal of Lawrence Public School.
The competition was held in two categories of English & Hindi. The competition was adjudged by Krishna Gupta, Jyoti Bali and Neelam Khajuria. The judgement was based on the legibility, neatness, joining, spacing of letters, strokes, angles and presentation.
In the English Calligraphy competition, the first prize was shared by Varinda Sharma of JK Montessorie School and Akira Sanju from Alexander Memorial School, the second prize was won by Akriti Kumari from SD Tara Puri School & Ibna Mukhtar from Lawrence School Sidhra, whereas the third prize was bagged by Manvi Bhagat of Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial School & Laiba Amreen of Lawrence School Sidhra.
In the Hindi Calligraphy competition, the first prize was shared by Areeba Arjun & Ruhani Gill both from Alexander Memorial School, the second prize was won by Gurseerat Kour from Humanity Public School & Simaran Hans of Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial School whereas the third prize was bagged by Aadiya Gupta from JK Montessorie School & Vanshika Sharma from Lawrence School Sidhra.
Merit certificates were distributed among the prize winners by Wg Cdr MM Joshi, Chairman Lawrence Public School.
He while congratulating the students gave useful tips to all the students for developing a good handwriting. He emphasised on the demerits of over dependence & usage of smart phones & tablet PCs, abstaining people from the traditional habit of writing.
