KISHTWAR, Nov 30: In order to improve police-public relations and to channelize energy of youth n right direction and keep them mentally and physically fit and away from drug addiction, Kishtwar Police organized Sports Mela 2016 at Chowgan ground, here today.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was held today, wherein Ghulam Nabi Bhalwan, Deputy Commissioner, District Kishtwar was the chief guest, who declared the tournament open. While speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Wazir, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar said that sports teams from both rural and urban areas of district are l participating in Wrestling, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Kho- kho, Football and Tug of war etc.
The opening matches were held in Tug of war game between the players of village Matta and Young Starts Kishtwar. The players of Village Matta won the matches by 2-1.
Prominent among others CO 17 RR Col Harikrishnan, CO 08 RR Col. Rajpal Singh, PK Chaudhary CO CRPF 52 Bn, Ab. Qayoom SSP, Vijay Sawhney CMO Kishtwar, Harish Bhoolchandani Incharge GM NHPC Kishtwar, Suresh Kumar, Chief Engineer Electrical NHPC and Irshad Ahmed, Tehsildar Kishtwar.
