JAMMU, Oct 17: Jammu District Khelo India Handball Championship in under-17 boys 2018-19 concluded at MA Stadium. Here today.
The championship was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association, in collaboration with J &K State Sports Council.
Arun Bangotra, Principal Govt Polytechnic College Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Narinder Mahajan, Vice President Handball Federation of India was the guest of honour on the concluding ceremony of the District Championship.
Calling upon youngsters to take active part in sports and games,, Arun Bangotra said that besides nurturing body and mind of the players, sports is a good career option.
Speaking on the occasion, Narinder Mahajan,Vice President HFI said that the association encourages budding talent and provides opportunities to sportspersons who want to take the game at professional level.
Ashwani Kumar Raina, General Secretary J&K Handball Association highlighted the activities of the Handball Association and extended thanks to J&K State Sports Council Officers, Coaches and Officials of the Association and media for support.
The final match was played between STC and Stadium Eleven in which STC defeated Stadium Eleven by 28-16.
Meanwhile, Boxing Championship under Khelo India initiative organised by J&K Amateur Boxing Association concluded at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Sports Medicine expert Dr Nirmolak Singh was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the position holders.
The gold medal winners different events and weight categories included Prajwal Jamwal, Vijay Bhaskaran, Ashish Gurung, Shubham Choudhary and Tannu Sharma.
