JAMMU, July 6: KC Sports Academy and Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar defeated their rivals convincingly and entered the semifinals of the ongoing Chevrolet Cricket Cup 2014 tournament sponsored by KC Motors Jammu and being played at KC Public School ground adjacent to KC Sports Club.
Earlier, in the first match, KCSC defeated star-studded Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) by 6 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, JCC scored a modest total of 131 runs in 20 overs. Paras Sharma and Deepak Dogra were the main contributors with 42 and 34 runs to the total respectively. For KSCC, Sahil Bhalwal, Arjun Choudhary and Ashwani Bhat bagged 2 wickets each, while Vivek and Ramandeep Singh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, KSCC scored the required runs in 18.5 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Sahil Bhalwal scored magnificent 39 runs, while Sahil Lotra and Abhishank Bakshi contributed 26 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Arjun Choudhary and Ashwani Bhat also chipped in with unbeaten 18 runs each. Sahil Bhalwal was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, RCC Srinagar defeated International Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 14 runs.
RCC scored a decent total of 169 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Ishan Gupta, Rahul Mussa and Rohit Bhat contributed 30, 29 nad 25 runs to the total respectively. Ishan hit 6 boundaries, while Rahul and Rohit struck 3 and 2 respectively. For ICC, Rakesh and Arjun claimed 2 wickets each, while Rajeev took one.
In reply, ICC managed to score 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 14 runs. Sahil Singh was the top scorer with 47 runs, while Rakesh contributed 23 runs to the total. Amandeep Singh, Rohit Bhat and Amit Sharma took 2 wickets each, while Kuldeep Kumar claimed one wicket. Rohit Bhat was declared man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Rajinder Singh, Sandeep Manchanda and Sohail Yousuf.
