JAMMU, Sept 27: Kanwal Cricket Club (KCC) defeated Spartan Cricket Club (SPCC) by 54 runs to emerge Champions of Monsoon Cricket Cup, being played at KC Ground, here today.
Aryan Slathia was adjudged man of the match for his spectacular bowling performance. He took five wickets and bowled out SPCC at 87 runs.
The SPCC skipper won the toss and elected to field first. KCC captain, Abhijit (Abbu) played cautiously and contributed 16 runs. Brilliant batting by Sumit Kumar was the top scorer with 38 runs. Later, Mohit Bali (Mannu) scored brisk 24 runs in just 10 balls and made a good partnership with Tarkeshwar Gupta (Shiva), who scored 15 runs and remained not out. In the end, KCC put up a decent total of 141 for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. From SPCC, Arvind took 3 wickets and Vishwajeet took 2 wickets.
In reply, SPCC openers were unable to make partnership and got out early. Vishwajeet, from SPCC, scored 14 runs and Chandan was the top scorer with 28 runs. From KCC, pick of the bowler was Aryan Slathia and he took 5 wickets. Mohd Asif and Mohit Bali, from KCC, took 1 wicket each and Satish Kumar took 2 wickets.
Throughout the tournament, KCC wicketkeeper, Sunny Singh Sumbria did brilliant wicket-keeping and got appreciation from the opposite team as well. Overall, it was a great tournament arranged by Sanjeev at KC Sports Club.
