Kanchan declares open U-19 Badminton, TT Tournament

UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Deputy Director (Central) Youth Services and Sports, Kanchan Bala declared open the One-Day District Level Inter-School Tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of Badminton and Table Tennis at J K Public Higher Secondary School, here today.
Mrs Kanchan was the chief guest on the occasion, while Sukh Dev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur presided over the function and Principal, J K Public Higher Secondary School, Manmeet Singh was the guest of honour.
About 59 boys and girls drawn from 10 institutions of the Udhampur district participated in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest congratulated the participants and the organizing committee for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
While advising the students to rigorously participate in the sports activities, Mrs Kanchan said that sports and games serve for delight, for ornament and for agility.
Earlier, in Table Tennis Under-19 boys, AOC Higher Secondary School defeated Government Higher Secondary School Garhi by 3-1, while in Badminton Under-19 boys, Maharaja Harisingh DAV got better of BBSV Peeth by (2-0) and in Badminton Under-19 girls, J K Public Higher Secondary School prevailed over Government Girls HSS Udhampur by 2-0.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur under the Patronage of its Director General, Navin Agarwal.
Poonam Sharma, Activity Incharge is supervising the event.
The matches were officiated by Ravi Singh, Manik Nargotra, Pooja Sharma, Renu Thaploo, Sunil Dutt Khajuria, Bhoopinder Singh and Rakesh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jaswant Singh, Santosh Kumari, Sushma Rani Gupta, Deepika Manhas, Kanchan Sharma, Anita Goswami, Swarndeep Singh, Ajay Sharma, Bhopinder Singh and Sanjeev Verma.
