KATRA, Jan 15: Wrestler Kaka of Amritsar in Punjab lifted 116th Annual Panthal Kesari 2016 title by defeating wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police of Basantgarh, Udhampur in neck to neck contest that lasted for 17 minutes at Panthal, near here.
Kaka was adjudged as the best wrestler in the Vishal Dangal, which was organized by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The Winner of 1st malli bout wrestler Kaka was given a cash prize of Rs 18,000 in additional to “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by SP Katra, Sammer Kotwal, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma and DySP Katra, Dr Ashok Kumar, while the runners-up wrestler Benia got Rs 13,000 by Retd. SP Prithvi Raj Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Hukam Chand and Social activist and wrestling promoter, Ram Lal Sharma.
Mr Kotwal was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winner and runner-up wrestlers, while treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.
