JAMMU, Oct 10: The PG Department of Psychology in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, celebrated World Mental Health Day.
The theme of the day was “Living with Schizophrenia”.
The chief guest on the occasion was Lida Singh Ishar, the first lady of the University of Jammu, who distributed prizes amongst the winners in the poster making competition.
Lida Singh Isher escorted by the Head, Deptt of Psychology showed keen interest in the posters displayed in the exhibition hall. Later, she interacted with the participants and encouraged them to be positive and vigorous in life.
Dr Manu Arora and Dr Rakesh Banal, consultant, Department of Psychiatry, GMC Jammu, were the guests of honour.
The day started with poster making competition. The students from the department delivered speech followed by a skit. Mime and creative dance was also performed. Pre-PHD students also presented mental health tips in Bollywood style.
Arti Slathia, Amandeep Nanda and Ayushi Grover bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively in the poster making competition.
Dr Arora while speaking emphasized on need for early treatment for the proper management of the disorder. He drew attention toward the 1% prevalence of Schizophrenia in the population.
The programme was compeered by Nidhi Vij. The function concluded with vote of thanks by Dean, Department of Students Welfare, Prof Pankaj Srivastava.
Faculty members, Prof Arti Bakhshi, Dr Chandra Shekhar, Dr Sarita Sood and Eisha Gohil were also present on the occasion.
