SAMBA, Jan 18: To help youth not to derail from the mainstream by shunning drugs and allied things and keep them physically and mentally fit through the medium of sports, Jai Baba Santokh Nath Environment and Sports Welfare Committee, Smailpur, Samba organized 18th Jai Baba Santokh Nath Cricket Tournament, which got underway at Pt Prem Nath Dogra Sports Stadium, here today.
Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Chander Parkash Ganga BJP MLA, Vijaypur Constituency were the chief guests and inaugurated the Tournament in an impressive and well attended function.
The inaugural match was played between RCC Ploura and Baba Santokh Nath Cricket Club, Smailpur.
Earlier, RCC winning the toss and deciding to bat first scored a modest total of 127 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. The main scorers from RCC were Rahul (44), Vivek (32) and Anoop (23). Mintu took 4 important wickets in his 4 overs, while Sunny and Vikash Manhas took 2 wickets each. In reply, BSNCC was bundled-out for 97 runs, thus lost the match by 30 runs. Mintu made 15 runs, While Sunny and Amit contributed with 16 and 10 runs respectively. Sohan, Abhi and Anoop took 2 wickets each for RCC. Anoop was declared as man of the match for his brilliant contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore assured the Committee that he will took up the matter of up-gradation of the Stadium with the concerned agencies, while Chander Parkash also spoke on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Vishwa Nand Chalotra, Sham Lal, Anoop , Ranjit Singh, Ravi Gupta, Daljit Singh, Dinesh Singh, Rahul Sharma, Vishwa Nand Chalotra and Ranjit Singh.
