Jodhamal Public School celebrates 12th Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Oct 20: Jodhamal Public School celebrated its 12th Annual Sports Day in school sports ground with great zeal and fervor.
Ajit Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Katra was the chief guest and Nandan Kuthiala, Trustee of the school was guest of honour.
The series of events started with the ceremonial torch led by Ishwarjeet Singh Bali and the various national players of Jodhamal School, evoking God’s blessings.
Danish Koul, Sports Captain (Girl) presented the welcome address.
School Principal Trilok Singh Bist in his speech said that sports helps much more than its physical aspects as it builds character and develops team spirit. It is the day for the students to free themselves from the fetters of mundane classes to play and run, he added.
The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participant, which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrance music of school band. The students showcased their talents in Swimmathon, Skatathon, 100 meters, 200 meters, 4 x 100 meters Relay, 800 meter, Fireman Lift, Three Legged Race, Balloon Busting and Obstacle Race.
The Cricket passion drill, Nuan-Chuk demonstration by Arnav Malhotra, patriotic dance on feet-tapping music and a well synchronized Aerobics remained as the main attraction of this mega event.
AK Sahu advised students to excel in academics at par with games and sports.
The winners in 200 meters race was Samandeep Kour and Viren Chib (first), in 100 meters race Abhishek Abrol and Dhriti (first), in 400 meters race Abhishek Abrol (first) and in Relay (girls) Enterprise House won and in the Relay (boys) Discovery House won the race.
Later, AK Sahu awarded the winners.
The overall Football, Basketball and Cricket Trophies went to Invention House, thus the overall and the Cock Shield Trophy was proudly lifted by the Invention House. The runner-up trophy was clinched by the Challenge House. The overall swimming trophy was presented to Enterprise House and overall Skating Trophy was conferred to Challenge House.
A new event Skatathon was introduced first time in Jodhamal curriculum, which was very well performed by the students. Best athletes of the year award went to Abhishek Abrol and Samandeep Kour from Senior Wing and Farhan from Junior Wing. There was a tug-of-war competition between the parents of the JMPS, which actually stole the show.
The meet culminated with soothing and pious shlok by Nandani Kapoor of Class XII, followed by the National Anthem. The vote of thank was proposed by School Sports Captain Jatin Mahajan.
