J&K Wushu Medallists honoured after National C’ship Glory

JAMMU, July 2: The medallists of the 34th Senior National Wushu Championship were felicitated by Bhavneet, General Secretary of the Wushu Association of J&K at Wushu Hall, MA Stadium, here today. The J&K Wushu team won six medals – one gold, two silver and three Bronze – at the championship held in Jaipur.
Amit Kumar, Hritik Singh, Mohd Syed Ali, Maan Singh, Ansa Chisti and Ranjeet Singh brought laurels to the Union Territory with their commendable performances. The J&K Sports Council had organized a pre-participation coaching camp for the selected players at Jammu. The team was officially screened by the Divisional Sports Officer, Screening Committee members and officials of the Wushu Association of J&K.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, congratulated the medallists and the Association for their continued success and announced that a dedicated Wushu Academy would soon be established in J&K to further support the sport. Bhavneet praised the athletes and assured that the Association would strongly pursue the long-pending demand for a full-fledged state Wushu academy. She informed that five players from J&K are currently in the National Coaching Camp in Patiala, preparing for the 17th World Wushu Championship in Brazil.
President Vijay Saraf, Vice President Ranjeet Kalra and Treasurer Sohit Sharma also congratulated the medallists. The team was accompanied by coaches Ajay Paul Gill and Lalit Singh.
