JAMMU, Aug 13: The J&K senior women’s cricket team secured a commanding 6-wicket victory over Chandigarh (UTCA) in a low-scoring encounter of the Senior Women T20 Practice Matches held in Chandigarh today.
Put into bat in a rain-curtailed 15-over match, UTCA managed just 69 runs, with Monika Pandey (17), Sarah Mahajan (16) and skipper Aaradhana Bisht (11) offering some resistance. Continuous rainfall over the past 72 hours had delayed the game and left the ground conditions challenging.
J&K bowlers delivered with precision and discipline. Ananaya Sharma and Rudrakshi Chib picked up two wickets each, while Rubia Syed, who also bowled economically, claimed one wicket. Medium-pacer Bismah Hassan, seamer Salra Devi, and off-spinner Sandhya Sayal all impressed with tight spells.
In response, J&K chased down the target in 11.4 overs, losing 4 wickets. Rubia Syed starred with an unbeaten 23 off 11 balls, including three sixes, earning her the Player of the Match title. Chitra Singh Jamwal added 13*, while openers Bawandeep Kaur and Ruqaya Amin scored 14 each. Rajini Devi and Ishana Chadha took two wickets apiece for UTCA. Meanwhile, in another game, Himachal Pradesh defeated Uttarakhand by 6 wickets.
