JAMMU, Jan 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Thang-Ta team has achieved remarkable success by securing second place at the 30th Sub-Junior and Senior National Thang-Ta Championship 2024-25, held at Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The event, which took place from January 4 to 6, 2025, saw participation from 26 States across India, bringing together the finest Thang-Ta talent from around the country.
The Jammu and Kashmir team delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of 62 medals, including 20 gold, 20 silver, and 22 bronze, earning them the second position overall. Manipur claimed the top spot, while Assam secured third place.
A standout achievement during the championship was the recognition of Ayjaz Ahmad Bhat, who was honored with the prestigious “Best Coach of the Year” award by the President of the World Thang-Ta Federation. This recognition highlights Bhat’s unwavering dedication and hard work in promoting and advancing the sport of Thang-Ta.
The Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Thang-Ta Association expressed immense pride in the team’s success and extended heartfelt gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for its ongoing support, including the residential coaching camp, which played a crucial role in enhancing the players’ skills and stamina.
