JAMMU, June 15: The employees of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council are in limbo as the much awaited Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to give nod to the ‘ready’ final seniority list remained on hold for the past two months.
The (Tentative) final seniority list was readied in the month of December last year and was revised on March 31, 2021 but thereafter no DPC was held, which was being eagerly awaited by the employees of the highest sports bodies of the Union Territory.
Promotions in the J&K Sports Council as per the laid norms were pending since years and many employees have reportedly attained superannuation without getting elevated to next designations.
“Final list is ready and is lying with the Council but the green signal will be given only after the DPC,” sources in J&K Sports Council said.
They said that in April, a stage was set to go ahead with the DPC but due to the absence of the Secretary Sports Council as she was in Srinagar, Administrative officers from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Finance Department, it was postponed.
“The employees were in jubilation when the final seniority list was prepared and the long pending DPC was about to be held but postponement left them dejected,” they said.
However, a couple of coaches awaiting upgradation of their designations after the DPC, got retired from the same positions they were holding for decades.
“The DPC must be time bound and should be held at the earliest. It is long pending now. Why the Sports Council is not clearing it, is better known to them,” they said.
“Infrastructure is being readied, crores of rupees are being spent but what about those who are toiling hard but in return not being acknowledged timely,” an employee rued.
Meanwhile, the employees have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the President of J&K Sports Council and his Advisor Farooq Khan, In-charge Department of Youth Services and Sports to intervene and direct for early conduct of DPC.
However, as per the final seniority list, hundreds of employees comprising Divisional Sports Officers, Senior Coaches, Junior Coaches, Instructors, Assistant Managers, Store Keeper, Ground Incharge, Drivers, Photographers and others, all are having eyes on much awaited DPC.
Repeatedly calls were made to J&K Sports Council Secretary, but she didn’t pick the phone call.
