J&K clinches 15th North Zone Softball C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 6: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) made an impressive performance by winning the 15th North Zone Softball Championship, defeating a strong Punjab team by 4-1 in the final. The tournament, held at Shri Guru Granth Sahab World University in Fatehgarh, Punjab, was organized by the Punjab Softball Association under the aegis of the Softball Association of India.
J&K’s dominance was clear from the start, as the team displayed remarkable skill, composure and determination throughout the match, ensuring their victory. The final was attended by notable guests, including Sakhram Singh, CEO of FIL Industries, who served as the chief guest at the closing ceremony, and Waseem Raja Khan, Joint Secretary of the Softball Association of India and Shrikant Thorat, Member of the Advisory Board of the Softball Association of India, who distributed trophies and medals.
In his speech, Sakhram Singh praised the players for their discipline and sportsmanship during the competition. The General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association also acknowledged the crucial role played by the coaches and technical staff in the team’s success. He highlighted the significant contributions of the coaches, including Harvinder Singh, who also served as the Chief Coach for the Indian National Men’s Softball team during its 2023 tour to Japan. The J&K Softball Association expressed gratitude to Nuzhat Gul, General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, for her support and encouragement of the Softball athletes.
