J&K bags five medals in Cadet, U-17 Fencing

JAMMU, Jan 15: Apart from Shreya Gupta’s Gold in Sabre individual event, Jammu and Kashmir contingent secured 4 medals to remain overall fourth in the just concluded 16th Cadet and Under-17 Fencing Championship.
The J&K medal tally included three bronze in team events of Epee Boys, Sabre Boys and Sabre girls as also an individual bronze in Epee by Sahiban Singh.
In addition, Mayank Sharma and Lakshay Sharma remained fifth and sixth respectively in individual Sabre event. Kritharthi Kotwal finished fifth in girls Sabre individual event.
The J&K contingent was led by J&K Sports Council coach, Shotu Lal Sharma and accompanied by Ajay Khartol, Anthony Mattoo and Monshi Sharma.
Meanwhile, president of the J&K Amateur Fencing Association, Mukerjeet Sharma and general secretary, Vijay Sharma as also veteran fencer, Rashid Ahmed congratulated the medal winners and the coach for this achievement.
The Medal Winners: TEAM: Epee Boys: Bronze: Sahiban Singh, Ajay Kumar, Aryan Sethi and Rohit Thakur. Sabre Boys: Bronze: Mayank Sharma, Lakshay Sharma, Sachin Kumar and Suryansh. Sabre Girls: Bronze: Shreya Gutpa, Kritartho Kotwal, Malvi Arora and Ananya Sharma. INDIVIDUAL: Epee Boys: Bronze: Sahiban Singh. Sabre Girls: Gold: Shreya Gupta.
