J&K bags 2 medals in National Karate Championship

JAMMU, May 23: Sailing on superb display of motor-ability, anticipation, agility and skill by Pallavi Sharma and Sahil Singh, Jammu and Kashmir State Karate team bagged 2 medals with one gold and one silver in the 24th Cadet and Junior National Karate Championship, which was held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, recently.
Ace karatekas Pallavi Sharma and Sahil Singh created history by clinching gold and silver medals respectively in the said championship and qualified for Asian Karate Championship to be held in Kazakistan.
Meanwhile, Anil Gupta, Chairman Amateur Karate Do Association of J&K has awarded rupees 3100 to Pallavi for winning gold in 53 kg junior female category and rupees 2100 to Sahil for clinching silver medal in 70 kg cadet men category.
He attributed the success to sheer-dint of hard work by team manager/coach Ambedkar Gupta, who has recently represented India in World and Asian Karate Championships.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ayjaz Lone, president of the association, Manoj Mehra, general secretary, Brajesh Bhau, vice president and Naresh Chander, joint secretary.
