J&K 80/2 against HP’s 268; Haryana restricts Punjab

JAMMU, Feb 10: Former Judge and Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal inaugurated the North Zone leg of the Under-14 Boys Cricket Tournament in a simple function at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
The Tournament for this young age group is being hosted by Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in cricketing history.
JKCA has chosen two venues of GGM Science College Hostel Ground and Country Cricket Stadium, Gharota for holding the matches.
Speaking on the inaugural function, Jang Bahadur said that Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association under the patronage of its Administrator Justice CK Prasad and supervision of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari has hosted a big number of matches this season including North Zone leg of Under-14 Tournament.
He said the Association organised around 20 matches in the age groups of U-16, U-19, U-23 and Ranji Trophy in the State, under the aegis of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
On the occasion, he wished both the teams’ good luck.
Meanwhile, at GGM Science College ground, Jammu and Kashmir were 80/2 against Himachal Pradesh’s 268 runs in the first innings of a 2-day match.
Achintya (16) and Musaif Bhat (8) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn today. Openers Hatim and Rohan Gill contributed valuable 22 and 21 runs to the total respectively.
Earlier, put into bat, Himachal Pradesh scored 268 runs in the first essay. Inesh Mahajan scored a brilliant century (104), while Robin contributed 50 runs to the total. From J&K, Arin Sharma and Ritvik Jaitley took 3 wickets each, while Laith, Sufiyan and Tajamul claimed one wicket each.
In another match at Country Stadium Gharota, Haryana bundled out Punjab for 155 runs, while Haryana in reply, were 20/0 in the first innings.
