Jammu Runners Group wins 14 medals in Tata Mumbai Marathon

JAMMU, Jan 25: After a brilliant show in Airtel Marathon earlier in November 2017, the Jammu Runners Group led by veteran Rajesh Padha won 14 medals in Tata Mumbai Marathon, taking their tally to a total of 73 medals in three months beginning from November 17, 2017.
The Group bagged 14 medals in the streams of 10 kms, Half Marathon (21 kms) and Full Marathon (42 kms) in different age categories.
A total of 47,000 athletes took part in this mega Marathon.
By completing the Marathon in 4:22:11 hours, Rajesh Padha finished his 5th consecutive Marathon, besides having the distinction of completing 18 Half Marathons and four 10 kilometers runs. He improved his previous timing by 27 minutes.
It was for the first time that the event witnessed awarding athletes with inspirational medals, besides medals for merit.
Apart from Mr Padha, Retd. SSP Parbhat Singh completed 42 kilometers Marathon with a timing of 4:58:47.
Ram Paul Kapoor finished Half Marathon in 1:44 hours in 60 plus category to get 3rd overall ranking in HM Tata Mumbai Marathon.
Others who completed Half Marathon included Ravleen Kaur (2:30:15), Kanupriya Garg (2:37:42), Harinder Paul Singh (2:40:04), Kunal Chib (2:40:19), Aryan Gupta (2:43:51), Vedant Kochhar (3:04:04), Jeweller Sham Suri (1:55:21), Vikram Garg (2:19:17), Sugandha Sharma and Neeraj Rohmetra (2:09:20).
Chandan Gupta also finished 10 kilometers run in (1:10:07) hours. Sapna Rohmetra and Renu Gupta ran 6.5 km in the Dream Run Category.
The Jammu Runners Group (JRG) has achieved 14 medals in TMM, 12 medals in Airtel Half Marathon (AHM) and 47 medals in Virtual Marathon (VM).
Meanwhile for clinching twin medals for inspiration and merit, Dogra Samaj Trust Mumbai honoured Rajesh Padha for inspiring people and making them aware of fitness in Jammu.
On the occasion, guest of honour Mukesh Rishi, Bollywood Actor threw light on Padha’s contribution in long distance races.
Around 3000 people attended the programme, wherein Seema Sehgal, Preet Saproo and Mukesh Rishi were also honoured for their contribution in respective fields.
