Jammu dominates UT Soft Tennis C’ship, wins 25 medals

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Jammu district reaffirmed its supremacy in soft tennis with a clean sweep of 25 gold medals at the 9th UT Level Soft Tennis State Championship, held at Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh, Srinagar. The tournament was organised by the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council.
Jammu’s athletes clinched gold in every category—singles, doubles and mixed doubles—across senior, junior and sub-junior divisions, marking a decade of dominance in the sport.
In the Senior Category, Madhvendra Singh and Sidhani Singh claimed gold in men’s and women’s singles, respectively and paired up to win mixed doubles alongside their respective partners.
In the Junior Category, Shreemai Bhat and Ayaanash Khajuria took top honours in singles, teamed up for doubles gold and added another in mixed doubles.
In the Sub-Junior Category, rising stars Svadhi Sharma and Harikesh Dutt swept all three events, showcasing the depth of young talent. The event culminated with a grand closing ceremony attended by Mission Director, ICPS Nazim Zai Khan and Chief Sports Officer, Anissa Nabi, who praised the athletes and organisers. Special accolades were reserved for Coach Indu Bhushan, credited as the architect of Jammu’s long-standing success.
With this flawless performance, Jammu now eyes national glory, carrying forward a legacy unmatched in UT soft tennis history.
