JAMMU, Apr 19: Jammu Division Selection Chess Tournament organized by All J&K Chess Association concluded at Ace Chess Academy, Trikuta Nagar, her today.
Dr A S Bhatia was chief guest on occasion, who distributed the prizes among the winners.
Prominent among others present on occasion were Atul Kumar Gupta, president “All J&K Chess Association, Taranvir Singh Gujral, chief organizing secretary AJKCA, Vikas Nanda, Coordinator AJKCA and Vijay Choudhary, Director Ace Chess Academy.  Fide Arbiters Anil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania conducted all the matches.
All the matches were played under FIDE Laws of Chess under Swiss System.
In girls Under-15 category, Meenal Gupta won the first prize, while Arushi Kotwal got second and Avni claimed third place.
In boys’ Under-15 category, Soham Kamotra got first prize, while Vilakshan Mehta won second place and Imtiaz Ahmed got third prize.
In women Open category, Meenal Gupta won first prize, while Varsha Rani claimed second place and the third place went to Arushi Kotwal.
The selected players from this event along with the selected players from Kashmir division will represent J&K State in forthcoming Nationals.
