Jammu District Open Tennis C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Oct 27: Jammu District Open Tennis Championship for Men and Women, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA), concluded at the Lawn Tennis Courts, M A Stadium, here today.
The week-long championship witnessed intense competition among top local players. Angel Kotwal, Deputy Director (Central), Youth Services and Sports Department (YS&S), was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners.
In the Women’s Singles Final, Arushi Kumari displayed exceptional consistency and powerful baseline play to defeat Ridhya Gupta in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, clinching the title.
The Men’s Singles Final saw a commanding performance from Chakshu Mahajan, who overcame Hardeep Singh Sodan with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory. Chakshu continued his fine form in the Doubles Final, pairing with Deepak Singh to overpower Amar Jyoti Sharma and Shivansh Kohli by an emphatic 6-0, 6-1 margin.
Speaking on the occasion, Angel Kotwal encouraged young players to take up tennis as a career and emphasized the role of sports in holistic development.
