JAMMU, Oct 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association organized the three-day Jammu District Open Tennis Championship for Men and Women at the Lawn Tennis Courts, M.A. Stadium, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by B. S. Jaggi, Honorary General Secretary of the J&K Lawn Tennis Association, who applauded the players for their dedication and passion towards the sport.
In the Men’s Singles, Rakesh Kumar defeated Sanjeev Rohmetra by 8-5 in a closely fought match. Kosheen Koul also secured an 8-5 win against Romit Sharma, while Harshit Sadhotra beat Harshavardhan by 8-4. Other winners included Akhilesh Sharma, Shivansh Kohli, Deepak Singh and Vinamr Gupta. Shubhkarman Singh delivered a dominating performance with an 8-0 win over Ridham Angral.
In the Men’s Doubles, the pair of Amar Jyoti Sharma and Shivansh Kohli registered an 8-1 win against Rakesh Kumar and Sanjeev Rohmetra. Paras Kachroo and Raghav Sabharwal defeated Kosheen Koul and Harshavardhan by 8-0, while Vinamr Gupta and Parth Gupta overpowered Ridham Angral and Rutwik Salwaan by 8-1.
The opening day concluded on a high note, with players, coaches, and spectators applauding the competitive spirit and excellent gameplay on display.
