J&K hosting 59th Volleyball National School Games; arrangements reviewed

JAMMU, Nov 29: Terming the 59th National School Games Under-14 Boys and Girls Volleyball Tournament as ‘unique’, with regard to its format as it is held after a complete exercise of so many competitions at the School, District, Division and State Level, the Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal directed the heads of various committees to leave no stone unturned in making the sporting extravaganza a great success.
Mr Aggarwal said this while reviewing the arrangements in an impressive meeting of the organizing committee and the conveners of various committees held at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
The DG Sports further said that the event will be held from December 19 to December 23, 2013.
He advised his team of officers to make elaborate arrangements with regard to boarding/ lodging and transportation of the visiting contingents, besides the playing venues.
Mr Aggarwal directed the concerned officers to hold a long-duration coaching camp under expert coaches prior to the national event, besides advising them to arrange physiotherapists and allied staff for better results.
Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports while speaking on the occasion emphasized on the need of having sincerity, devotion and dedication for smooth and successful conclusion of the events.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu gave detail of the arrangements made for success of the Tournament.
He said, the mega event, which will be witnessing the participation of around 30 contingents drawn from across the country, will be played at 6 venues, 3 each for boys and girls at MA Stadium, Jammu.
He further said that the teams from all over the country will be lodged at Saraswati Dam and Youth Hostel Nagrota, while the reception centres will be established two days before the commencement of the Tournament on December 17, 2103.
The meeting among others was attended by District Youth Services and Sports Officers including Swaran Singh Chib, Reasi, convener ceremony committee; Tirath Ram, Jammu, convener boarding & lodging; Mohd Ayaz Khan, Rajouri, convener, transport committee; Thakur Dewan Chand, Ramban, convener press & publicity; Jarpal Singh, Samba, convener control room; Sunil Kumar, Kathua, convener reception; Sukhdev Singh, Udhampur, convener medical committee; Lecturer PE, Rajesh Dhar, convener souvenir committee; besides Abdul Rehman, Accounts Officer, Directorate; CMO, Jammu; Additional Commissioner in the office of Divisional Commissioner; Additional Commissioner General on behalf of GMC, Jammu.
