JU drubs Maharashtra, sails into quarters

PATIALA, Nov 29: University of Jammu defeated Jalgaon University, Maharashtra in a one-sided contest to seal berth in the quarterfinals of the All India Vice-Chancellors’ T20 Tournament, here today.
Earlier, after winning the toss, JU Captain Daud Iqbal Baba elected to bat first.
University of Jammu scored mammoth total of 194 for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Niranjan Singh Sonu top scored with unbeaten 43 runs off just 16 balls, while, Ameet Targotra contributed 34 runs. Rajesh, Akash and Vishal chipped in with 33, 18 and 17 runs to the total respectively.
Jalgaon University bundled-out for meagre total of 64 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 130 runs. Sashikant and Kishore scored 17 and 12 respectively. For University of Jammu, Rajkumar Bakshi was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 6 important wickets, while Rajesh claimed 2. Pawan and Niranjan Sonu picked 1 wicket each.
University of Jammu will play its third match on November 30 with Patiala University.
Niranjan Singh was adjudged man of the match.
