*Council to enhance financial assistance of deceased Billiards marker’s family

JAMMU, June 24: Pakistani wrestlers are likely to participate in the “Mission Dosti” dangal this year to charm Hindu pilgrims on the foothills of the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in the holy town of Katra during Navratra festival.
This was stated by Shiv Kumar Sharma, President, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, during a press conference here this afternoon.
Restraining the Pakistan wrestlers from visiting the place after tensions on Line of Control (LoC) from the past few years, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association this year is working to bring the peace and tranquility between India and Pakistan by re-calling Pak wrestlers to participate in the “Mission Dosti” dangal. He asserted the Pakistani wrestlers are likely to flex their muscle in the Dangal on October 7 at Mathwar and on October 9 at Katra during Navratra festival.
He also announced that J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Panya Dangal Committee is organizing 5th Panya Kesari Vishal Dangal on June at Panya (Dori Dager), Akhnoor, adding that a total of 30 bouts will be played in the Dangal under the supervision of reputed, experienced technical committee namely Jagbir Singh, Ashok Kumar Arjun Awardee, Ashok Dhaka (Haryana), Sohan Singh, Raman Kumar (Amritsar), Mulk Raj Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Naresh Kumar, Om Parkash Verma, Sat Paul, Mohamnmad Fareed and Deepak Wazir (J&K).
Sharma stated that the first bout will be played between International Wrestler, Maha-Bharat Kesari Mausam Khatri, Inspector Haryana Police and Bharat Kesari Wrestler Sabba Patha Padarath Pahalwan of Kohali, Amritsar, Punjab, adding that Mausam Khatri had represented India in International events more than 30 times and recently won World’ s biggest cash prize Rs 1 crore on Shaheedi Divas organized by Haryana Government.
Prominent wrestlers of national and international repute from Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi, Amritsar and other States will also participate in the competition, he said, adding that prominent wrestlers from J&K will also take part in the competition.
Sharma said that the prize money for the first bout is Rs 1.5 lakh and for the second bout is Rs 1 lakh. Best wrestler of the competition will be awarded with 5 kilograms desi ghee and cash prize of Rs 1,100, he added.
To a query, Sharma said that Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) will surely enhance the financial assistance of the deceased billiards marker Surjeet Singh’s family. “Some officials of the Council are following the case and the decision to enhance the financial assistance of the deceased billiards’ marker Surjeet Singh, a resident of Mullowan Sarthal, Kishtwar, who died on July 22 last year due to electric shock while taking bath near his quarter at MA Stadium, will be taken during Standing Committee or Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Council”, he added.
When asked about construction of concrete floor at Indoor Sports Stadium Complex, Udhampur, Sharma said that DPR of Rs 76 lakh has been prepared and sent to the concerned authorities. He assured that the wooden or synthetic flooring will be made available for the sportspersons, adding that apart from this lightning of high quality and front elevation will also be done in the complex.
To another query, Sharma stated that the screening conducted by Council will be the only eligible criteria to gain Government job under SRO.
