JAMMU, May 22: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, concluded the Inter-Zonal and Inter-School District Level competitions for U-17 boys and girls in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Basketball, Handball and Hockey at venues including MA Stadium, Green Field Gandhi Nagar, KK Hakku Stadium and Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar, here today.
In the finals, Zone Miran Sahib defeated Zone Satwari by 5-3 in Kho-Kho (U-17 Girls) and beat Zone Gandhi Nagar by 7-3 in Kho-Kho (U-17 Boys). In Kabaddi, Zone Gandhi Nagar edged past Zone Miran Sahib by 25-23 (U-17 Girls) and also won the U-14 Boys final by 30-29.
In Basketball finals, Zone Satwari beat Zone Jammu by 19-15 (U-14 Boys), while Zone Gandhi Nagar overcame Zone Dansal by 36-31 (U-17 Boys).
Meanwhile, DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma also inaugurated the U-17 Cricket competition at Chenab Valley Ground, Jourian. Cluster events also began at GGHSS Bakshi Nagar and Rehal Stadium under ZPEOs Harvinder Kour and Surabjit Kour respectively.
The competitions were held under the patronage of Director General YSS J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara, with oversight from Deputy Director Central Jetinder Mishra, Joint Director Ved Parkash and Accounts Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma. Technical conduct was ensured by Bandana Sharma, Jasdev Singh, Ravinder Singh and other departmental officials.
