JAMMU, May 23: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu has launched the Inter Zonal District-Level competitions with Cricket (U-14 and U-17 boys) starting at Government Boys High School, Jammu Cantt and Basketball (girls U-14 and U-17) commencing at MA Stadium Jammu.
The Volleyball (U-14 boys and girls) competitions concluded today at the same venue. Around 400 students from various Government and private schools across Jammu are participating, with additional activities ongoing at venues including Garhi Ground Jourian, Bana Stadium and Khel Gaon Nagrota.
Experts from the department are managing the events to ensure smooth conduct. Today’s results saw Zone Gandhi Nagar beat Zone Satwari by 67 runs in U-14 Cricket, with Saksh scoring a top 56 runs; in basketball, Zone Jammu and Zone Gandhi Nagar secured wins over Zones Marh and Akhnoor in U-17 girls, while in U-14 girls’ basketball, Zones Satwari and Gandhi Nagar won their respective matches. In volleyball finals, Zone Gandhi Nagar beat Satwari in U-14 boys and Zone Satwari defeated Gandhi Nagar in U-14 girls.
