JAMMU, Sept 8: District level Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament got underway at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi.
On 2nd day of the ongoing tournament, the match was played between Chasana and Reasi Zone in which Reasi Zone won the match by 11 runs. Batting first Reasi Zone scored 68 runs. Ajay Patel made 19 runs while Vandit got 9 runs. For Chasana Zone Narotam Singh and Shaqoor took three and two wickets respectively.
In reply, Chasana failed to chase the target in stipulated overs. Qurban Ali and Shaqoor made 25 and 13 runs respectively. For Reasi Sharvan took four wickets.
The tournament is being organised as a part of annual calendar of activities by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi on directions of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General YSS and with the consent of Indu Kanwal Chib, Deputy Commissioner Reasi.
The matches were officiated by Sandeepan Sharma, Kuldeep Raj, Jagdev Singh, Ankush Sharma and Goutam Koundal.
The district team will selected on the basis of performance during the tournament which will represent the district at division and State level.
Meanwhile, on 4th day of the ongoing cricket tourney in U/14, U/17and U/19 (Boys), the today’s matches were played at different venues of Srinagar including at SP College Playground, BHSS Zadibal Playground and BHSS Sonawar Playground respectively.
The DYSS Officer Srinagar, Balbir Singh along with other officials ZPEO Eidgah, Ghulam Qadir, Activity incharge, Muzaffar Ahmad inaugurated the U/17 (Boys) tournament at BHSS Zadibal Playground.
U/19 category: Two matches were played in which Zone Zaldagar defeated Zone Hawal by 8 runs and in second match Zone Amira was awarded walkover against Zone Eidgah.
U/17: Two matches were played in which Zone Gulbagh beat Zone Zaldagar by 69 runs while in the 2nd match Zone Amirakadal defeated Zone Rainawari by 124 runs.
U/14: Two matches were played in which Zone Hawal beats Zone Rainawari by 50 runs, whereas in the 2nd match Zone Amirakadal defeated Zone Gulabbagh by 29 runs.
