UDHAMPUR, Aug 23: The Inter-District Divisional Level Handball Tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 Girls concluded at Mini Stadium, here today. The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Udhampur, and witnessed participation of more than 83 players from various districts.
Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He was accompanied by Pushpinder Kour, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Tikri and Vijay Kumar, ZPEO Pancheri, who extended their support and motivation to the young players.
In his address, DYSSO Mishra urged the players to support the vision of “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and stay committed to a healthy and drug-free lifestyle, stating, “Let your sweat be your only addiction.”
In the final matches of the tournament, Udhampur clinched the title in the Under-14 Girls category by narrowly defeating Jammu with a scoreline of 1-0 in a tightly contested match. However, in the Under-17 Girls category, Jammu bounced back strongly and secured a convincing 8-4 victory over Udhampur, showcasing excellent skill and coordination on the field.
