IHRSC J&K wins 13 medals in All India Championship

JAMMU, Apr 25: Showing extraordinary grit and agility of highest class, the roller skaters (Speed) of Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club J&K brought laurels to State by winning 13 medals in the 1st All India Roller Skating Championship 2019 organised by Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI) in collaboration with RSFI unit of Uttar Pradesh at Greno Speed Skating Rink in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, recently.
While felicitating the medallist skaters in a function held here today at Shiva Roller Skating Rink Peerkho, President J&K Roller Skating Association G.S Khurmi, the chief guest on the occasion, lauded the young skaters for their matchless performance in the national skating arena. He said that the outstanding show of skating skill and endurance by these skaters has raised hopes that J&K will soon become top stakeholder as far as medal tally in the national and international events is concerned.
The parents of medal winning skaters appreciated the entire team of Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club especially ace skater Arjun Gandotra for inspiring young skaters and giving special tips necessary for excelling in speed skating.
Applauding the performance of skaters of Indian Hawks Club, Arjun Gandotra, who was special guest on the occasion, said that J&K is in no way behind any other State as far as sporting talent is concerned but the only flaw here is the dearth of facilities to hone the skills of sportspersons.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Rakesh Shan.
The medallist skaters of the Indian Hawks Skating Club include Kartikeya Puri (2 golds, 1 silver), Ranveer Shan (One silver, one bronze), Samarjot Singh (2 golds, one silver), Prageet Kour (One silver), Tamanna Saini (One bronze) and Puneesh Puri (Two golds, one bronze).
Later, G.S Khurmi also interacted with other skaters of the Indian Hawks contingent including Dhruv Gandotra, Ruhika Sharma, Manya Sharma, Abhinav Bakshi, Devansh Kapur, Surya Narayan Sharma, Angad Singh, Uday Narayan Sharma, Viraaj Gandotra, Vedant Jamwal and Vanshaj.
